Raising Rock Stars Preschool ~ Letter Nn

Rock stars This is the main section of our preschool posts-focusing on what we do for our Raising Rock Stars Preschool Curriculum. I am not sharing photos of each part every week, just what I happen to catch! We do the entire unit even if I don’t show it here in the photos!

Our letter this week ~ Nn, our verse: No one can serve two masters.

Krash colors his verse, he really loves coloring now, a BIG change from just months ago!! IMG_8431

After he cuts out his vocabulary cards, we put them in his RRSP Notebook together. He was pointing to what I called out… IMG_8435

Checking to find things that are taller or shorter than the verse.

I love seeing him seated at his desk working hard ;-).

Another day, working on his letter tracing…IMG_8734

Working on his treasure box, he loved the glitter glue part!!! We had my iPod playing too, he was singing along to Treasure {our RRSP song of the week}IMG_8739

Reading his book to me, sitting in the bean bag, of course.IMG_8741

We continue to use our RRSP PowerPoint shows. I didn’t get any shots of him this week!

The Power Point lessons are located in the Members Only section. You can see a video here showing a PowerPoint lesson. You can learn more about the Members Only section here. The entire printable unit {everything else you see pictured above} is available for FREE on the main RRSP page…

You can download the entire letter Nn unit here.

Nn Lesson Plan… Nn Lesson Plan Included is our exact plan, with links to everything we used. Page 2 is blank in case you don’t do exactly what we do! You can download the PDF file on the Nn page!

He did one drawing, an egg, from his Kumon Drawing book this week. {we are going through this book and keeping them all together in 1 notebook}. IMG_8453

We are loving our ABC Twiggles membership, Krash loves so many different things about it! He really surprised me by loving this particular worksheet. I honestly thought he would fight me on it. He loved finding all of the “N” nuts for the squirrel ~ using his BatMan stamper was an added bonus. ;-)

We are continuing our ABC Crafts, here is his N is for Nest…IMG_8542

We continue to love our Grasshopper ABC kit! Krash LOVED the letter building activity on the dry erase board.

IMG_8557 IMG_8562

For the 1st time ever, he spontaneously wrote letters!!! Thank you Grasshopper!!!IMG_8565 After writing for a bit, Pac Man began to show him how to put a body on his stick person!IMG_8581

He worked on shapes with our shape puzzles…IMG_8748

ABCs were reviewed using Jolanthe’s matching set. After matching them up, we walked the line while singing the ABC song!

star boxes

This is where I share the 3 special open-ended toys that were in our Star Boxes for the week.

Our 3 STAR boxes for the week: Magneatos… and the rest were ignored because he played with Magneatos every day!IMG_8515IMG_8615 See our full Magneatos review here, with a link also to the monthly giveaway!

game timeOur game this week was Super Why ABC. This was a repeat for us, you can see where I wrote details about this game here. Krash continues to LOVE this game!

See more of our favorite preschool games here.

Life School This is where I share games, toys, and life experiences that occur outside of our planned preschool time.

We have added silent reading back into our daily routine. Our bean bag makes reading time TONS more fun {although we simply must get another bean bag now…trading days produces much whining}. The boys both have silent reading time that begins when I go upstairs to get Ladybug ready for her nap. I then come down and clean up from lunch, while they keep reading. IMG_8533

We have much more space in our new schoolroom, even room for some gymnastics! Krash learned how to do a head stand!

IMG_8712 IMG_8716

Krash is loving the new easel and is drawing on it daily. Pac Man is a great encourager and teaches him how to draw many things! {yes, he put his shirt on backwards-I was just happy he dressed himself!}IMG_8720

Moms fav While away, he finally learned to really swim! He made it across the pool several times on his own, finally learning how to swim with his face in and come up for air!

Do ya think he’s proud of himself?IMG_8121

Something Special ~ Fall Tree Craft

something special I was inspired by searching through old Crafty Corner posts from Totally Tots, and chose a fall craft I thought all of my kiddos would enjoy {it was from this post}.  I was right {which rarely happens}.  They all loved it!

We painted the paper towel tubes {I helped Ladybug use dot paint for hers}IMG_8894

Then the kids made their “ground” while the tubes dried a bit, Ladybug dot painted her ground all by herself and really enjoyed it!IMG_8902

I picked up a pack of thin leaves at Dollar Tree last week, we used these for the actual leaves.IMG_8911

The kids had a grand time positioning their leaves, just-so.IMG_8921IMG_8924

Ladybug was thrilled with the placement I helped her with! ;-) IMG_8918

The end result…the most gorgeous fall decorations I have ever had!IMG_8953

Thanks to Ramblings of a Crazy Woman for the inspiration for this fall craft!

Something Special ~ The Plan

something special When I taught public school Kindergarten, the kids had “special area classes” each day.  They rotated between music, art, PE, and library.  The idea occurred to me last week that I could do something similar in our home.  The idea stemmed from my desire to have something each day that I could plan for all 3 kids to participate in…something uniting.

I came up with a routine, which is still under renovation as I try things out for a few weeks, but for now, here’s my plan…

  • Monday-Art/Craft
  • Tuesday-Music {I used to teach a simple preschool music class a few years ago-I plan to bring this back with a bit of a twist for my little group-thankfully Pac still enjoys this type of stuff-so he will be fine even though it is really for the littles}
  • Wednesday-Cleaning {learn a specific cleaning skill} rotated with a Mission/Service Project {write to our Compassion/World Vision children, OCC Shoe Boxes, and other projects}
  • Thursday-Cooking {this should be interesting-me and my non-cooking self}
  • Saturday {we school on Sat, and not on Fri}-PE type activity/Group Game

I am not 100% certain I won’t add more to the rotation, or even drop a few if they end up not working out, this were just my initial brainstorm.

I hope to share on the blog when I have the chance ~ no schedule or routine…but I will share as we go along.  I already have one coming up to share our first art day, it was wonderful!  I know many of you do these types of things daily, but for me-they don’t come naturally.  I am not crafty, forget music, don’t take the time to teach cleaning skills, hate cooking, forget to do fun PE, and neglect mission/service projects {even though we are missionaries ourselves}.  This little plan is my way of keeping myself accountable.  Hey, it worked for Tot School, Raising Rock Stars and a few more of my random ideas…maybe it will work for this!
